Reinventing a new direction
KCET and LinkTV are the merger of two organizations. Its mission is to reinvent the value and purpose of ‘independent media’ as a vitally important source of cultural ideas, global connectivity and diverse perspectives in the U.S.
Through my collaborative efforts, a responsive redesign of the entire website (Home, About, Video Pages, Donation Pages, etc.) was made for a better experience for the desktop, mobile, and tablet.

Background
Through my collaborative efforts with the team, a responsive redesign of the entire website (Home, About, Video Pages, Donation Pages, etc.) was made for a better experience for the desktop, mobile, and tablet. Through this experience, I’ve grown as a designer while working with the team such as:
- Implemented a Design Process. Since the site is robust, we each had to figure out what pages to design first. A person suggested a numbering system where “1” was made the priority and “99” was low priority.
- Defining a Direction. The With KCET heading in a new direction, the creative team and I had to come up with a way to represent its brand moving forward.
- Defining a Design System. Once we’ve defined a brand identity, I was able to create style guidelines for how certain elements and assets are used.
understanding the problem
At kickoff, I had to understand the types of problems and challenges the company was going through and how we were going to address them when we do user experience.
Due to a signed NDA, I’m only able to reveal the key insights of the problem.

Lack of messaging.Â
Lack of brand identity.Â
Lack of visual identity.
uncovering the goal
After understanding the problem, I concluded it was better for us to define a user experience first and build on visual identity later.
Design a visual identity that is reflective of the stakeholders.
Build a responsive website that reflects KCET (and LinkTV)’s brand.
Make the site easy and efficient to use for the user.
